Description

A look at working steam during the British Railways era, using mostly archive colour film, starting in the early 1950s and ending with the very ‘Last Steam Train’ in August 1968. Film is included from the Eastern, North Eastern, Scottish, Midland and Western Regions.

The programme comprises all previously unpublished footage & includes ;-

The East Coast Main Line in the early 1950s- Norfolk in the 1950s – Doncaster shed and surrounding area in the early 1960s – Retford and the East Coast Main Line – York Station and Shed in the period 1961 to 1965 & the main line to Darlington – Scotland- Cambrian Lines and Talerddig – Devon Banks in the 1950s – Oxford at the end of steam- Great Central – Midland Main Line in the 1950s – West Coast Main Line in the 1960s – Railtours — Willesden Shed- End of Steam in the North West – ‘Flying Scotsman’ on Tour – ‘15 Guinea’ Special – Vale of Rheidol.

A wide range of classes are featured including A4s, B12s, B17s, B1s, N2s, 9Fs, Peppercorn & Thompson Pacifics, A3s, 02s, 04s, ‘Halls’, ‘Castles’, ‘Manors’, ‘Granges’, 8Fs, ‘Flying Scotsman’, ‘Jubilees’, Scottish preserved locomotives and V2s.
