Description

A programme exploring various aspects of the main line from St Pancras to the North. Steam is featured in the 1950s and 1960s along with the railway, its signalling stations with particular emphasis on St Pancras and its approaches.

The programme includes:

A complete film from the days of the London Midland and Scottish Railway looking in detail at the relaying of the junctions outide St Pancras in 1947.

St Pancras in 1964 with views from the cab showing both steam and diesel traction.

St Pancras during the 1970s and 1980s.

Freight along the Midland Main Line showing featuring Garratts, 8Fs and 9Fs.

Freight around Trent Junction including WDs and Black 5s.

Steam hauled passenger services featuring Scots, Jubilees, Patriots, Fowler 2-6-4 tanks and a Standard 5.
