Four Major Freight and Passenger Centres Past & Present

Comprises a visit to some of busiest traffic centres on the Network using contemporary footage and archive from the 1980s and 1990s.

Carlisle   with a variety of freight and passenger traffic in recent months in and around the station and at Kingmoor Yard, plus archive from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s comparing past and present. Includes heritage traction in recent months.

Didcot   The junction for cross country and traffic on the Western Main line. The station and approach lines are all featured, plus archive from the 1990s when first generation traction dominated.

Clapham Junction  Europe’s busiest station in the 1960s, 1980s and 2014 with a wide range of traffic, inlcuding freight. Class 50, Class 33, Class 73 and Class 66s all feature.

York   The iconic station is shown with a wide variety of freight and passenger workings in 2014. Plus archive from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s showing ‘Deltics’, Class 40s, Class 37s and Class 45s in and around the station. Also looks at the main line on York’s northern and southern approaches.
