Description

An account of the Great Britain Railtour which ran from Tuesday the 26th of April to Wednesday the 4th of May. 

The 9 day tour is followed from Victoria to the West Country, and then through Bristol, Hereford, Shrewsbury and Crewe to Grange over Sands. We then follow the tour along the Cumbrian Coast and over Beattock to Edinburgh. Next comes the Highland Main Line, then the 2 consecutive days of running to the Far North and West Coast. The first features the line from Inverness to Thurso and the second from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh.  The return leg of the Great Britain is shown heading South over the Highland Summits to Perth and Glasgow, from where the train returns to London via Beattock, Carnforth, Hellifield and the East Coast Main Line.

Motive Power comprises Jubilees 45690 ‘Leander’, 45699  ‘Galatea’, 46100 ‘Royal Scot’ and Black 5 44871.
