ALONG THE DEVON COAST  Past and present along the famous sea wall through Dawlish and Teignmouth plus the lines along the River Dart into Kingswear. Features Class 37s, Class 47s, DMUs  and Class 50s in 1990,  DRS 37 612 and 37 259 on the ‘Dartmouth Flyer‘ to Kingswear,  rounds the coast past Langstone rock with a Pathfinders charter   from Tame Bridge  Parkway to Kingswear.  DRS power in the form 37 612 and 37 259 are at the head, Cross Country and FGW HSTs on engineering duty, West Coast 47s on special from Sheffield.

SEATON JUNCTION past and present.  The former busy junction on the Southern route to the west in 2012 and in 1990 with Class 50s.

FIRST GENERATION DIESELS CONTRASTS   The Great Central’s diesel gala of September with Class 101 DMU, D5850, 33 002, D1795 and 37 198. The Mangapps Railways Gala over the August Bank Holiday, and D5631 on the North Norfolk Railway.

SOUTH WALES SURVEY  Freight traffic on the line through Severn Tunnel Junction, Cardiff, Margam, Aberthaw and Carmarthen.  Features Class 60s on oil and steel duties, Class 70 on ‘liner and 66s on coal. Passenger traffic with Arriva 67s on Cardiff to Crewe runs, and 67 and DVT on driver training duty plus the Valley lines and the last semaphores.   Passenger services in West Wales. Tondu in 2012 and in 1989 with Class 37s on the last coal duties.

MIDLANDS FREIGHT   Freight traffic around various freight hotspots including Water Orton, Elford Loop, Stenson Junction and Willington. Features Class 60s on oil duties, Class 66s on engineering, steel and coal, Loso movements with DRS 37s, COLAS 47. Class 56s on freight with steel and scrap duties. 47 500 hauling Class 86’s to Willesden.

CLASS 47 HALF CENTURY   The Class 47 Jubilee Gala at the Mid Norfolk Railway featuring 47 798 ‘Prince William’. 47 292, 47 596, 47 580 ‘County of Essex’, 47 401, 47 703, 47 579 and 47 853 plus 47 traction elsewhere in East Anglia.
